The Story Behind the Uniform Design
This year for the Tropic Bowl we've decided to do something entirely different with the uniforms and accessories. Something that speaks originality and culture while continuing to separate FTL For The Love from other apparel companies.
This year the Tropic Bowl uniform is designed around and inspired by the indigenous people of Costa Rica, the Boruca Tribe to be exact. To give some background about the Boruca Tribe (also known as the Brunca or the Brunka) they have about 2,660 members. Most of whom live on the reservation in the Puntarenas Province in southwestern Costa Rica. The ancestors of the modern Boruca made up a group of chiefdoms that ruled most of Costa Rica's Pacific coast, from Quepos to what is now the Panamanian border. Boruca traditionally spoke the Boruca language, which is now nearly extinct. Like their ancestors the Boruca are known for their art and craft work, especially weaving and their distinctive painted balsa wood masks. These masks are important elements in the Borucas' annual Danza de los Diablitos ceremony, celebrated every winter since at least early colonial times. The Danza depicts the resistance of the 'Diablito' representing the Boruca people, against the Spanish conquistadors. Be sure to look into this amazing tribe as we embrace their culture and pay homage to everything Borucas! We've embraced this tribe so much so that we've had masks specially hand crafted for us and we couldn't be more thankful. Lets make this the best Tropic Bowl 7 (SIETE) to date! Pura Vida! |
Tropic Bowl VII is giving away a signed helmet & football from Buffalo Bills, Lesean McCoy!
